introduction
The Laboratory was created by Act 2007-1012, Section 123 (a) and was established to protect the integrity of racing in the area. In doing so, the lab is required to:
- Analyze samples (urine, blood, etc) for the presence of any medication in racehorses.
- Develop techniques and procedures
- Ascertain permitted tolerance levels or therapeutic dose allowances for therapeutic medications in racehorses
- Offer consultation and advice to the public on all issues regarding the medication of racehorses
- Conduct research in medication issues involving racehorses
Some Lab is one of only four laboratories (out of 22) in the U.S. that is fully accredited since 1996 by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation to perform drug testing in racehorse samples, in our continuing effort to attain the critical mission.

Lab has partnered with the University of area School of Veterinary Medicine for 25 years to provide the most economical and efficient service possible to the equine industry and the public.
The University of Somewhere carries out the following:
- Drug Administration to horses and sample collection
- Pharmocokinetic, treadmill and pharmocodynamic studies
- Data processing
Mission
At the lab at Some University, all analytical aspects of drug detection and confirmation are conducted. Lab's main mission is to protect the integrity of racing in the area.
